Kimberly L. Kjome

Kim Kjome is a native Texan, originally from Ballinger, Texas. She attended the University of North Texas and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology, graduating Magna Cum Laude and in the University Honors Program. She attended and completed medical school at the University of Texas Medical School-Houston.

Upon graduation, she also attended and completed her residency in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Texas Medical School-Houston. During her residency, Dr. Kjome was very active in the recruitment of residents to the program, education of medical students and fellow residents. During residency, she also served as Chief Resident, and received the Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award. Additional interests involved research in the area of substance abuse.

Her interest during residency was on mood spectrum illness, anxiety spectrum illnesses, as well as treatment of substance use disorders and dual-diagnosis disorders. She has received training in both the psychopharmacologic treatment of psychiatric illness as well as different psychotherapeutic modalities, giving her an informed and balanced view toward the treatment of emotional illnesses.

Currently in addition to her position at the Tarnow Center, Dr. Kjome is a member of APA, and is a clinical research fellow at the University of Texas Medical School-Houston.
